The Celtic Freeport has welcomed the UK Government’s announcement that Pembroke Green Hydrogen 1 is among 27 projects shortlisted in the second Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR2).
HAR2 supports low-carbon hydrogen production through 15-year revenue contracts under the UK’s Hydrogen Production Business Model.
Hydrogen is key to delivering clean energy across the UK and decarbonising high-emission industries, particularly in regions like South Wales.
Luciana Cubotariu, CEO of Celtic Freeport, said: “RWE’s shortlisting is another significant step towards realising our vision for a thriving hydrogen economy at Celtic Freeport.”
Green hydrogen is produced using renewable energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, creating a zero-carbon fuel for power generation, transport, and industrial use.
