Dragon Renewables Energy Park Consent

  • Three new onshore wind turbines, integrated with the existing solar farm, will create hundreds of construction jobs and eliminate approximately 11,500 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
  • From September 2025, a dedicated community fund will support upskilling opportunities and provide energy subsidies for residents of Waterston, Llanstadwell and Blackbridge.

Dragon Energy has secured planning approval to install three wind turbines at its Renewables Energy Park in Waterston, complementing the existing 18,500 solar panels.

This initiative aims to reduce overall emissions and advance the company’s decarbonisation objectives.

The new turbines are projected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2026.

In collaboration with local communities, Dragon Energy has established a community benefit fund, set to commence with commercial operations. Excess clean electricity will be exported to the local grid during periods of low on-site demand.

Luciana Ciubotariu, CEO of the Celtic Freeport, commented: “Celtic Freeport welcomes Dragon Energy’s commitment to expanding renewable capacity at Waterston Renewables Energy Park with three new wind turbines, reinforcing the region’s role in the UK’s green energy transition. This project will not only enhance local clean energy generation but also deliver lasting benefits to communities and support decarbonisation efforts.”
